Activity Details
- Date: Friday, May 16, 2025
- Time: 09:00 – 12:00
- Venue: Mangrove Forest Resources Education and Development Center, Samut Sakhon
- Participants: WCP staff and volunteers
Objectives
The project was carried out under the CSR-DIW Continuous 2025 framework with four key objectives:
- Protect mangrove ecosystems by removing waste and restoring natural balance.
- Enhance biodiversity through planting mangrove seedlings to expand habitats for marine and wildlife species.
- Mitigate climate change as mangroves absorb 3–4 times more CO₂ than terrestrial forests.
- Reduce marine pollution by collecting waste that harms coastal and marine life.
Importance of Mangroves
Mangroves serve as natural coastal barriers, carbon sinks, breeding grounds for aquatic species, water filters, and sources of community income. Mangrove trees (Rhizophora spp.) are especially valuable for their strong roots, salt tolerance, easy propagation, and high CO₂ absorption capacity.
“Caring for nature today is the foundation of a sustainable future for all.”
